Going team by team looking at their draft strategies, including best and worst picks, will add more if I don't finish now.
Golden State Warriors:
The Warriors have a solid young core built under the duo of Cousins and Gasol. Lowry is a solid starter but the rest are mainly role players with some upside potential.
Best Pick: DeMarcus Cousins, one of the league's best players on a reasonable contract.
Worst Pick: Tibor Pleiss, a relative unknown for 3 mil a year for the next 3 years.
Los Angeles Lakers:
The Lakers went with a stars and scrubs approach, getting CP3, Melo and Ibaka to lead the way. The other players are role players and youngsters with a decent amount of upside.
Best Pick: Timofey Mozgov, this is based on how late he went in the draft and has the ability to contribute in a good amount of categories. Staukas and Canaan could be good picks as well but could have been considered reaches in the round they went.
Worst Pick: Melo, an aging superstar on an expensive contract and limits the cap space for years to come.
Los Angeles Clippers:
Clippers look to be built to compete now and in the future as well. They boost a strong "starting 5" along with adding Deron Williams Manu Dirk and Gortat.
Best Pick: Nikola Mirotic, he looks to have taken another step forward and as a starter should be very effective.
Worst Pick: Gortat, he helps in the win now approach but takes up a good amount of cap to limit future spending.
Sacramento Kings:
The Kings follow another stars and scrubs approach. Going with Griffin, Gay and Jordan. However some of their young role players have a lot of upside.
Best Pick: Festus Ezeli/Otto Porter Jr., Ezeli has the potential to put up solid numbers with Bogut out and Porter seemed primed for a breakout season.
Worst Pick: Rajon Rondo, this is a 1 yr gamble on a headcase who excels in some categories while lacking in others,
Houston Rockets:
This team is young and built around young players for the future. She has a ton of cap space to make moves to compete for years to come.
Best Pick: Robert Covington, he can put up numbers similar to last season he is a absolute steal at 1 mil per year.
Worst Pick: Donatas Motiejunas, worst pick just because there is no timetable for his return and how much he will play upon returning with Capela and Harrell in the mix.
Dallas:
A well built team with team with a solid core and no glaring weaknesses. Not much else to say.
Best Pick: Ian Mahinmi, he is a cheap starting Center and good source of rebounds and blocks. Capela could also drawing some consideration for this as well.
Worst Pick: Toney Douglas, hasn't done much lately and even on a Pelicans team with lack of depth at Guard right now still shouldn't matter much in terms of fantasy, however as a last round pick not a major issue.
OKC Thunder:
Thunder spent the bulk of their cap on Kyrie, Love, Gallinari and Noah. with that being said he spent his money wisely and built a competive team with Nerlens Noeland Dennis Schroder as 2 main young players.
Best Pick: Schroder, he should provide a excellent replacement for Kyrie in the short term and has good long term potential.
Worst Pick: Joakim Noah, 13.4 Mil is a lot for a bench player who is limited and an injury history.
Minnesota Timberwolves:
GM Tom built a young competitive team with a good amount of depth for the short term and long term.
Best Pick: Jon Leuer, cheap contract and has shown improved abilities so far in the preseason and early part of the year.
Worst Pick: Enes Kanter, the monster contract will far outway his productions as a limited contributer (only pts and rebounds)
Denver Nuggets:
GM Justin built a team with a long term approach focusing on young players with upside under control for multiple years. Their are some cap concerns in future seasons but looks like a solid group overall.
Best Pick: Rodney Hood, this kid has a good chance of becoming a solid starter and is under team control for cheap for 3 years.
Worst Pick: John Henson, he contributes majorly in rebounds and blocks but his minutes and contract limit his upside and cap space for Justin.
Milwaukee Bucks:
GM Craig G. built a relatively young and deep team that has the potential to compete now and in the future. The health of Chandler Parsons and growth of Mudiay will determine his success.
Best Pick: Kyle O'Quinn, he is signed to a relatively cheap contract and has the ability to contribute across the board and Coach Fisher loves him!
Worst Pick: PJ Tucker, he has limited upside and only looks like a matter of time until he loses his starting spot.
Chicago Bulls:
I collected a number of young players no one over age 29 and most of which on cheap contracts. Chicago has cap space to help compete now and in the future.
Best Pick: CJ McCullom, he has the ability to be an elite source of pts, 3 pts, assists and steals from the SG position.
Worst Pick: Ben McLemore, a crowded Kings roster may limit his shots but my one of favorite former KU players either way.
Detroit Pistons:
GM Aaron built an interesting team, looks of young players under team control and with a good amount of upside. Signing Durant to extension or trading him will be important.
Best Pick: Jeff Teague, an All Star PG on a reasonable contract (took him right before I was going to haha)
Worst Pick: Andre Roberson, OKC's starting SG provides very little fantasy value.
Cleveland Cavaliers:
GM Paul built a well rounded team with some upside and no major holes. Also has a reasonable amount of cap space to use going forward; should compete now and in the future.
Best Pick: Jarrett Jack, not a flashy pick but a solid player for the round he was selected.
Worst Pick: Bismack Biyombo, picked way too early in my opinion for a player who only helps in rebounds and blocks.
Philadelphia 76ers:
GM Chris continues the stars and scrubs approach with Dragic, LeBron, Dramond and Horford taking up the bulk of his payroll. He added a lot of young upside guys throughout the rest of the draft.
Best Pick: Lamar Patterson, if he can ever squeeze into ATL's starting lineup.
Worst Pick: Reggie Bullock, not really a fan but as a last round pick can't complain too much.
Toronto Raptors:
GM Mitchel built a solid all around team with a decent amount of upside. Playoffs this year and maybe more in the future.
Best Pick: Juluis Randle, he has a chance to be a very good player returning from injury in his sophmore season in the NBA.
Worst Pick: Failing to make his 12th round pick.
Boston Celtics:
GM Michael made a slew of trades and the end result is a young team lead by John Wall and Isaiah Thomas. He has some cap to add players but the development of Towns and his other youngsters will determine his future.
Best Pick: DJ Augustin, a solid backup PG and if something would ever happen to Westbrook he would be a solid starter.
Worst Pick: Gerald Henderson, not a great fantasy player, won't start, not playing right now, 6 mil contract.
New York Knicks:
A solid mix of veterans and youngsters make up this squad. The health of Rose will be the wildcard of how far this team can go this season.
Best Pick: Montrezl Harrell, he has played well when others have been injured could be a solid piece for the future.
Worst Pick: Tyreke Evans, a skilled player picked early but a decent size salary and injured.
Brooklyn Nets:
GM Alex built his team with a mix of former Euro players and American youngsters. Looks primed to compete for years to come!
Best Pick: Gary Harris, cheap and I like his upside.
Worst Pick: Honestly doesn't have one, one of the best drafted teams in my mind. Maybe Patrick Beverly could have drafted someone cheaper and won Beverly in FA for less.
Atlanta Hawks:
GM Jason built a deep well rounded team with no glaring weaknesses. Only question mark may be cap space moving forward, but I'm sure he will make some trades to compensate.
Best Pick: Raul Neto, he is cheap and has a decent amount of upside as a starter for the Jazz.
Worst Pick: Aron Baynes, playing behind one of the best centers in the league will limit his minutes and value. 6.5 mil salary will make cap space tighter.
Washington Wizards:
GM Matt was in win now approach from the start. Drafting older stars in Gasol and Duncan, but at the same time having West and Portis will help him when they do retire. His team is well rounded and maybe one big player away from a serious championship run, with 23 mil left to spend look out for the Wizards!
Best Pick: Courtney Lee, a solid fantasy player taken in one of the later rounds that can contribute across the board.
Worst Pick: Shaun Livingston, not a major asset at all and 5.5 salary, but needed in case Curry would ever get hurt again.
Golden State Warriors:
The Warriors have a solid young core built under the duo of Cousins and Gasol. Lowry is a solid starter but the rest are mainly role players with some upside potential.
Best Pick: DeMarcus Cousins, one of the league's best players on a reasonable contract.
